Thrivent Financial for
Lutherans and Habitat for
Humanity International have joined together to create Thrivent
Builds, a four-year $100 million program designed to help provide
"hands up" to people who lack decent shelter. The Quincy
Area Habitat for Humanity
Affiliate, the local Thrivent Chapter, and area Lutheran
Churches have made an application, and the application has been
accepted, to build a home in rural
Adams County again in 2008.The monthly meeting of
Thrivent Builds/Rural Adams County Habitat was held April 3rd, at
7:00pm at
St. Peters
Lutheran
Church
in Coatsburg. Greg and Britney
Foster of Coatsburg have been selected from several applicants for the
Adams County Habitat House for 2008. Greg works in Quincy and Britney
works in Paloma, so a location in the Coatsburg or Paloma area is
preferred. A number of possible
locations for the house were discussed, but none have been found yet
that meet the desired criteria. If any one knows of a lot available in the area that is
available, please call the number below. Tim Keys,
Industrial Arts Teacher at
Mendon
High School
said his students have almost completed building all the walls of the house.
Also, groups or individuals in the community that are willing
to donate time or money for this worthwhile endeavor can contact Roger
Flesner, 696-4254.
